Anyone that has an interest in sports will find that when in Canada, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy many different types. This even applies to those who are visiting here. The following are some of the various sports that Canada is known for but looking at them from an amateur level.
Baseball
The interest in baseball in Canada starts at a very young age. This is because there are so many opportunities for the kids to get involved in it. At the amateur level, there are leagues available for peewees. This is where the interest first begins. It is also classed as a backyard sport. Meaning that families will get together and play a version of the game for pure entertainment. It is a sport that doesn’t require a lot of equipment, so a lot of families find it more affordable to put the kids in this sport.
Swimming
This is another Canadian sport that is classed as a favourite. Again there are lots of opportunities for the young ones to get involved. At one time, it was totally limited to the summer months. However, now that there are so many indoor facilities, it is a sport that can be enjoyed all year round. There are different amateur leagues that individuals can join. Or it can be a sport that is enjoyed just at the entertainment level.
Football
Those that are interested in Canadian football will find it a little more difficult to get into. However, at the high school and college levels, there are some good opportunities for those kids who want to play the game throughout their school years or even advance to a professional level.
Sports variety
There are several other sports that the average person can get involved in on an amateur level. This includes tennis and lacrosse, for example.
